Muskegon Community College is an associate degree-granting institution that offers programs responding to individual, community, and global needs. We are seeking qualified candidates for Adjunct Instructors.
The Adjunct Instructor Pools accept applications from those interested in future part-time teaching opportunities. The pools are always open; an acceptance does not guarantee an immediate opening. Department chairs review applications in advance of a need and may contact approved candidates when a part-time instructional need arises.
Required SkillsResponsible for instruction and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment, retention and success; assessment of learning, development of curriculum and use of instructional delivery modes utilizing both traditional and non-traditional methodology.
Primary Instructor Duties- Accountable for delivering the Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance curriculum and evaluating each segment.
- Work with the Internship Coordinator to ensure meaningful educational experiences for students.
- Be on site and available during 100% of classroom teaching time.
- May delegate classroom responsibilities to guest speakers as needed.
- Complete Michigan Community Health Worker Alliance training and have at least 2 years of nursing experience in public health.
- Demonstrate ability to develop and use instructional technology and implement interactive teaching strategies.
- Support the organizational culture of customer service toward students and staff.
- Be detailed‑oriented, well‑organized, and handle confidential information appropriately.
- Be a flexible planner with a sense of humor, integrity, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Work effectively with diverse populations representing a wide range of ages, nationalities, cultures, and abilities.
- Be highly motivated and solution‑oriented with integrity, ethics, and dedication to the College mission.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Willing to learn reporting tools used by the College.
- Able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Teach assigned courses, which may include day, night, and online formats on the main campus and extension centers.
- Create an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
- Grade assignments meaningfully to promote student growth, return them in a timely manner, and assign final grades while meeting institutional deadlines.
- Provide educational assistance during office hours or by appointment.
- Encourage student opinion survey completion and use results to improve success.
- Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
