General Description

Responsible for instruction, facilitation of student learning and assessment of student outcomes; committed to student recruitment, retention and success. Instructors will teach courses within the discipline and will be responsible for coordination of student classroom, laboratory, simulation and clinical activities. Instructors are responsible to participate in departmental and college committees and campus activities representing the MCC Nursing Program. This Full‑Time position requires classroom, laboratory and clinical teaching in Associate Degree Nursing Courses with teaching responsibility during fall, winter, and summer semesters.

Position begins in Fall 2026. Annual Load: 35.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university and a valid Michigan Registered Nurse license.

Five years of experience in medical‑surgical nursing practice; preference for those with nursing education experience.

Ability to develop and use instructional technology, implement interactive teaching strategies, and provide direct clinical supervision and evaluation of student learning outcomes.

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card with Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider certification.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations across abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.

A passion for continuous learning and dedication to student success through the mission of the College.

Ability to facilitate varied teaching methods (lecture, discussion, testing, presentations) to enhance student learning and completion.

Willingness to teach during day, night, and online, and at the main campus and extension centers.

Experience in educational theory and techniques; teaching experience at the post‑secondary level preferred.

Active participation in professional and community organizations.

Detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and capable of handling confidential information and interacting effectively with staff at all levels.

Highly motivated, solution‑oriented, and upholding a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the College mission.

Essential Functions

Teach assigned course load, including day, night, and online courses, at the main campus and extension centers; maintain punctual attendance throughout the scheduled instructional time.

Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes documented student learning.

Participate in professional development activities and maintain current discipline knowledge.

Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.

Assist in developing or revising curriculum to keep programs current and ahead of trends.

Grade assignments meaningfully to promote student growth, return graded work timely, and assign final grades meeting institutional deadlines.

Provide educational assistance to students during scheduled office hours and by appointment.

Ensure student opinion surveys are conducted for each class and reviewed for student success improvement.

Participate in evaluation processes assessing Content Expertise, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Design, Course Management, and Special assignment work; complete non‑teaching duties such as Committee Work, Student Organizations, and Governing Councils.

Contribute to Department or College by collaborating with Academic Leadership and other teams to support or review processes, participate in council, committees, and mentoring activities.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
