English Language Arts Teacher (1.0 FTE) Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with English (BA/BX) endorsement (6-12)
  • Must meet Michigan Highly Qualified requirements for English

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school by intentionally developing the competencies of the Reeths-Puffer Graduate Profile:
Empathy, Self-Awareness, Literacy, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Problem Solving.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating strong knowledge of English Language Arts content and effective instructional practices.
  • Designing rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences that promote critical thinking, communication, and authentic application of learning.
  • Creating a classroom culture that fosters curiosity, student voice, collaboration, and meaningful discussion.
  • Using formative assessment and timely feedback to build student understanding and ownership of learning.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners while maintaining high expectations for all students.
  • Building strong relationships with students and creating an inclusive environment where every learner feels valued, challenged, and supported.
  • Helping students develop empathy, self-awareness, literacy, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills through authentic reading, writing, speaking, and inquiry.
  • Maintaining effective classroom management and maximizing instructional time to ensure high levels of student engagement.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to strengthen instructional practices and improve student learning.
  • Reflecting on instructional practice and embracing continuous growth as an educator.
