English Language Arts Teacher (1.0 FTE) Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with English (BA/BX) endorsement (6-12)
- Must meet Michigan Highly Qualified requirements for English

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school by intentionally developing the competencies of the Reeths-Puffer Graduate Profile:
Empathy, Self-Awareness, Literacy, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Problem Solving.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of English Language Arts content and effective instructional practices.
- Designing rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences that promote critical thinking, communication, and authentic application of learning.
- Creating a classroom culture that fosters curiosity, student voice, collaboration, and meaningful discussion.
- Using formative assessment and timely feedback to build student understanding and ownership of learning.
- Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners while maintaining high expectations for all students.
- Building strong relationships with students and creating an inclusive environment where every learner feels valued, challenged, and supported.
- Helping students develop empathy, self-awareness, literacy, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills through authentic reading, writing, speaking, and inquiry.
- Maintaining effective classroom management and maximizing instructional time to ensure high levels of student engagement.
- Collaborating with colleagues to strengthen instructional practices and improve student learning.
- Reflecting on instructional practice and embracing continuous growth as an educator.
- Believes every student can learn, grow, and succeed.
- Sees literacy as a vehicle for developing thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged citizens.
- Values authentic learning experiences that prepare students for college, career, and life.
- Is committed to equity, collaboration, innovation, and developing the whole child.
