Position Summary

Reeths-Puffer Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered High School Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs, fostering academic growth, and creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages student success both academically and socially.

Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement(s)
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working with high school students preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and support personnel
  • CPI training or willingness to obtain preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction to students receiving special education services
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
  • Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support student achievement in inclusive settings
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
  • Participate in professional development and district initiatives
  • Complete service logs and targeted case management for Medicaid billing.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior intervention strategies
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for diverse learners
Compensation and Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the negotiated master agreement and district policies.
