Position SummaryReeths-Puffer Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered High School Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs, fostering academic growth, and creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages student success both academically and socially.
Qualifications- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement(s)
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and support personnel
- CPI training or willingness to obtain preferred
- Provide direct instruction to students receiving special education services
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
- Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support student achievement in inclusive settings
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs
- Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Participate in professional development and district initiatives
- Complete service logs and targeted case management for Medicaid billing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- Experience with differentiated instruction and behavior intervention strategies
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accommodations for diverse learners
