The attendance coach will implement the district attendance policy, oversee Operation Graduation and work with students, parents, and teachers to monitor and support the improvement of school attendance.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The attendance coach will monitor and support the collection of student attendance information at assigned sites; meeting district, state and federal requirements relating to attendance processes including parent notification; preparing and distributing attendance reports and materials; supporting the implementation of tier I, II and III attendance initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Previous office experience preferred
● Bachelor's degree;
Master's degree preferred
● Three or more years of recent classroom/school system experience
● Strong communication skills
● Strong community relationships
● Strong organizational skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Monitors all student attendance records using a computer on a daily basis.
● Problem solves supports and scaffolds when inconsistencies and concerns arise.
● Responds to inquiries from students, teachers, and parents regarding attendance rules and absences.
● Compiles and submits a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end reports working with truancy liaison as required.
● Types, prepares, distributes, and files records, reports, and correspondence which are related to attendance.
● Operates standard office equipment, e.g., computer (data entry), telephone, calculator, and copy machines and phone master.
● Prepares attendance verification forms for teachers for individual class periods.
● Prepare consolidated absence lists for sites as assigned.
● Verify excuses by handwriting comparison, or by contacting parents, or teachers, or by other approved methods.
● Telephone and/or communicate with parents, teachers, and school staff to ascertain reasons for absences. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
● Knowledge of general office procedures and office machines (computer, fax, and copier).
● Recordkeeping techniques.
● Telephone techniques and etiquette.
● Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
● Data entry techniques utilizing spreadsheets.
Additional Qualifications:
We are seeking a turnaround liaison that is committed to leading the systemic reconfiguration of the district at the school level, while sustaining the organization's sense of urgency in realizing dramatic improvement in student and teacher performance in a short amount of time. Qualified candidates should skillfully demonstrate the following turnaround competencies:

• the strong desire to achieve outstanding results in a short amount of time;
• the strong desire and ability to build meaningful, care relationships with students in order to exert academic press and influence;
• the skill and willingness to leverage the student support network to ensure that students' social, emotional, nutritional, and health needs are addressed;
• the ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning;
• the capacity to rigorously create and sustain a well-orchestrated system of ongoing data collection and analysis to inform a continuously responsive and adaptive system of tiered instruction attentive to students' specific academic needs.
