Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Muskegon, MI

Salary Range: $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Muskegon seeking Environmental Health & Safety Specialists who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.
• Provide EHS training to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Manage hazardous waste disposal and ensure proper record-keeping in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, and training records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes and new projects.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and training.
• Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are a plus.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 certification processes
• Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate safety committee meetings
• Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish
• Experience with ergonomics assessments and improvements
• Familiarity with hazardous waste management regulations (e.g., RCRA)
