- 8+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Deep technical expertise in DeltaV DCS, including configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting DeltaV control system logic, phases, and automation components.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live manufacturing environments, including commissioning, issue triage, and rapid resolution under strict GMP constraints.
- Deep understanding of biopharma regulatory expectations and industry standards, including GMP, Validation, ISA 88, and GAMP.
- Proven ability to operate independently as a senior resource while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional onsite teams (Validation, Engineering, Operations) during Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) phases.
- Strong understanding of change control procedures in a validated pharmaceutical environment.
- Familiarity with supporting Computer System Validation (CSV) indirectly through execution and issue resolution (no direct CSV authorship required).
We are seeking an elite Senior Automation Engineer to join our team onsite in Muskegon, MI for a long-term contract engagement. This role is tailored for a highly autonomous, senior-level expert who specializes in DeltaV DCS within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector.
Operating independently, the successful candidate will support Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) execution activities, troubleshoot complex automation issues in real-time, and mentor junior-to-intermediate engineers. This position does not require CSV authorship; instead, you will support validation activities indirectly through stellar automation execution, remediation, and issue resolution within a highly regulated GMP environment.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as the onsite DeltaV DCS Automation Engineer, directly supporting critical Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) execution activities.
- Work independently to troubleshoot, configure, and support DeltaV control system logic, phases, and automation components in real-time.
- Provide strong technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior and intermediate automation engineers on the floor.
- Support active C&Q activities, including executing tests, investigating anomalies, drafting technical remediations, and prepping systems for retesting.
- Collaborate closely with onsite validation and operations teams to ensure all automation behavior aligns seamlessly with approved Functional Specifications.
- Identify complex automation bottlenecks, propose robust technical solutions, and support safe implementation under site change control protocols.
- Ensure absolute compliance with all applicable GMP requirements, site standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety standards.
