Accountability Objective
Perform the necessary duties within the specific area of expertise while working in conjunction with other engine testing technicians to complete the overall scope of the Engine Test department. This role is responsible for engine testing and reporting results in an accurate and timely manner, while upholding the highest standards of accountability and integrity in all reporting and procedures. Collaboration is essential, as the position requires effective communication and teamwork with fellow technicians, other departments within Hilite International, and third-party partners.
A mindset of innovation is also key, as the role supports continuous improvement and development in testing processes and departmental contributions.
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read technical manuals, accurately record data, and effectively present information. Expertise in mathematics and computer skills is preferred. Individuals will need to have the ability to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions/results, and the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrams is required.
PrincipalAccountabilities
Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding engine information such as design, specifications and purpose, and types of material to be used to assemble product and accurately set up and run the test to ensure accuracy of data and results.
Builds, operates, and disassembles engines on dynamometer test stands.
Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and verbal instructions to plan, layout, determine sequence of operations and execute.
Determine special instrumentation and tooling needs, design, and machine these items as needed. Aid in calibration and instrumentation of test cell as needed.
Keep records as required to fulfill test requirements.
Inspect engines in use to determine wear and usability (compression, cylinder leakage, valve tip height, valve lash, and bore scope inspections for example).
Work with other disciplines within the department, such as instrumentation or design.
Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Advise fellow workers on proper and safe work habits. Provide technical advice to management and fellow workers on engine related questions. Educate others so they can be better informed and make better decisions.
Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the company core values.
Required to observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area.
Train and aid cross functional disciplines as time permits.
Execute product development testing such as thermal shock, thermal vibration, VVT testing, air stand testing, etc.
Aid in facility maintenance, innovation, updates and other tasks necessary to successfully maintain business.
Other duties as assigned.
