They employ non-invasive imaging techniques, primarily ultrasound, to evaluate blood flow, identify blockages, and detect abnormalities within the circulatory system.
Common Duties of a Vascular Technologist:
Patient Preparation:
Obtain patients' personal information and medical history, explain procedures, and position patients appropriately for examinations.
Conducting Examinations:
Perform non-invasive vascular tests, including ultrasound and Doppler studies, to assess blood flow and detect vascular diseases or disorders.
Image Analysis:
Evaluate images and data to identify abnormalities, providing preliminary findings to assist physicians in diagnosis.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure imaging equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance.
Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports summarizing test results for medical staff review.
Patient
Education:
Inform patients about procedures and address any questions or concerns to ensure comfort and understanding.
