Responsibilities
- Certify participants to receive WIC benefits
- Provide nutritional and health risk dietary counseling
- Provide group and individual risk and nutritional education
- Make referrals to the Maternal/Child Services Supervisor or other Health Department programs and community social agencies
- Develop care plans and complete WIC documentation in accordance with Federal, State, and local guidelines
- Perform other related duties as assigned
A Community Nutrition Specialist performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing twenty (20) pounds or less.
Environmental ConditionsA Community Nutrition Specialist works out of the offices of the Muskegon County Health Department and additional off‑site program locations. Occasional travel throughout the community may be required.
