Shift: Night Hours 6pm - 6:00am
Full time - 36 hours one week, 48 the following week - every other weekend

What will a Dispatcher, Pro Med will need:
- Keyboard and typing skills. Computer operation/data entry.
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) training and certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Map reading ability, skills and sound knowledge of Muskegon County and Western Michigan.
- Ability to handle and control phone calls with panicked or angry callers calmly and professionally.
- Physical ability to do the job as defined below as it pertains to Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) usage, detailed reading of maps and monitoring phone and radio traffic.
- Familiar with FCC rules and regulations of the job. Ability to monitor and speak clearly over the radio.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude under a variety of conditions, and relate appropriately to a variety of individuals.
- Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving record.
- HIGH EMOTIONAL EFFORT. Work environment usually hectic with long periods of high stress. Position requires managing multiple tasks in a time critical manner. Frequent overtime.
What will a Dispatcher, Pro Med will do:
- Ensure with Field Supervisor and Dispatch Supervisor that appropriate limits are staffed.
- Assign and direct PMT medical and transportation staff; assign available personnel on calls both emergency and non-emergency calls and call-in off-duty personnel as necessary. Dispatch limits.
- Receive and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Fill open schedule slots and perform other scheduled maintenance as required to keep ambulances staffed.
- Schedule and approve overtime as needed. Give pre-arrival instructions to callers and responding personnel on emergency calls using approved EMD criteria
