JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Material Manager in Muskegon MI. Our client is a leading manufacturing company specializing in delivering high-quality products to a global customer base. The Material Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of material planning, inventory control, and supply chain management to ensure seamless production flow and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities of a Material Manager include:

• Managing the day-to-day activities of the materials department, including purchasing, inventory control, and logistics.

• Developing and implementing material planning strategies to meet production schedules and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.

• Collaborating closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to forecast material requirements accurately.

• Supervising and coaching material handlers and warehouse staff to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

• Monitoring inventory levels, conducting cycle counts, and driving continuous improvement in inventory accuracy.

• Negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best pricing and delivery terms while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

• Utilizing ERP and inventory management systems to track material usage and optimize stock levels.

• Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to materials handling and storage.

Job Requirements of a Material Manager:

• Proven experience managing materials, inventory, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of salaried and hourly employees.

• Proficient in inventory management software and ERP systems.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED Experience and

Education:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management or a related field.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

• Certification in APICS (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent is a plus.
