Job Overview
Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, or Superintendent, performs semi‑skilled and skilled construction, maintenance, and repair activities related to City facilities, grounds, and equipment. Operates light and heavy equipment and provides general labor in support of public works maintenance, repair and construction projects including highway, traffic, forestry, cemetery, marina, parks and water/sewer.
ResponsibilitiesWorks onsite at various locations within the City; frequently travels to field sites with treacherous terrain, climbs or crawls to access sites, and may encounter fumes, dust, chemicals or other hazards. Manages safety and maintenance of equipment, operates hand and power tools, lifts moderate to heavy weight, and communicates via phone and two‑way radio. Occasionally exposed to adverse weather, loud noises, moving mechanical parts, dust or airborne particles, and fumes.
QualificationsEmployees are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 517M, Unit 2.
