Job Summary
Provides clinical patient care, including screenings, evaluations, and treatments, in relation to Speech Language Pathology. Responsible for documenting diagnostic evaluations, treatment plans, discharge summaries, recommendations, progress reports, daily treatment records, and home programs. Promotes speech pathology and physical medicine through various formal and informal activities. Offers educational training to hospital staff and the community as requested.
Job Responsibilities- Deliver clinical patient care, addressing a wide range of diagnoses, disorders, and age groups.
- Utilize time efficiently to meet or exceed departmental standards.
- Prioritize workload to assist colleagues during overload or emergency situations.
- Update or develop state‑of‑the‑art evaluation or treatment protocols.
- Inform supervisor of departmental equipment needs.
- Ensure documentation meets TJC, Medicare, and general professional standards.
- Provide necessary documentation to requesting agencies and individuals, including physicians and insurance companies.
- Assist in the development of SLP marketing materials with supervisor approval.
- Maintain professional competence and expertise in speech language pathology.
- Attend 95% of all scheduled departmental, in‑service, and team meetings.
- Assist with PI as directed by the supervisor.
- Serve as a professional role model to subordinates.
- Orient, supervise, and evaluate practicum students and graduate interns as requested.
- Make decisions based on non‑routine procedures under changing conditions, following general instructions from the supervisor.
- Coordinate activities of others without direct supervision.
- Lead others in similar work performed without direct supervision.
- Work directly with patients and/or customers, as well as with internal/external customers and other healthcare professionals and staff.
- 0–6 months of related experience.
- Effective presentation skills and the ability to respond to questions from patients and families.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Basic computer knowledge for data input and reporting.
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid Oklahoma State License to practice Speech Language Pathology (SLP).
