Surgical Counselor Muskogee, OK | Full-Time | Monday-Friday Starting at $17.00/hour DOE | Temp-to-Hire
Help Patients Navigate Their Surgical Journey with Confidence! A busy and well-established specialty clinic in Muskogee is seeking a compassionate and organized Surgical Counselor to join their clinical team. This position serves as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling and pre-operative process, ensuring every detail is coordinated for a smooth and positive patient experience. Responsibilities- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, pre-operative testing, and post-operative appointments.
- Serve as the liaison between patients, physicians, surgical facilities, and primary care providers.
- Educate patients on surgery preparation, required testing, and appointment timelines.
- Collect and verify all required surgical documentation, including insurance information, medical clearances, consent forms, laboratory results, EKGs, and imaging.
- Prepare and organize surgical packets and ensure all paperwork is submitted accurately and on time.
- Communicate surgery dates, appointment reminders, and procedural instructions to patients.
- Coordinate with surgical facilities regarding scheduling, documentation, and case details.
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Provide exceptional customer service while addressing patient questions and concerns throughout the surgical process.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous medical office or surgical scheduling experience preferred.
- Experience in ophthalmology or another surgical specialty is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification preferred.
- Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor.
- Monday through Friday schedule with no weekends.
