Surgical Counselor Muskogee, OK | Full-Time | Monday-Friday Starting at $17.00/hour DOE | Temp-to-Hire

Help Patients Navigate Their Surgical Journey with Confidence! A busy and well-established specialty clinic in Muskogee is seeking a compassionate and organized Surgical Counselor to join their clinical team. This position serves as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling and pre-operative process, ensuring every detail is coordinated for a smooth and positive patient experience. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, pre-operative testing, and post-operative appointments.
  • Serve as the liaison between patients, physicians, surgical facilities, and primary care providers.
  • Educate patients on surgery preparation, required testing, and appointment timelines.
  • Collect and verify all required surgical documentation, including insurance information, medical clearances, consent forms, laboratory results, EKGs, and imaging.
  • Prepare and organize surgical packets and ensure all paperwork is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Communicate surgery dates, appointment reminders, and procedural instructions to patients.
  • Coordinate with surgical facilities regarding scheduling, documentation, and case details.
  • Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while addressing patient questions and concerns throughout the surgical process.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous medical office or surgical scheduling experience preferred.
  • Experience in ophthalmology or another surgical specialty is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor.
