Description

Position serves as an integral part of Hospital management providing nurse supervision and direction as well as administrative support for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Hospital Services Division. Incumbent is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications

Education – Incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing. BSN preferred.

Experience – Prefer one year of supervisory experience.

Licenses & Certification – Incumbent is required to possess current licensure by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing for Registered Nurse. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required, or within 60 days of hire. TNCC required within the first year of employment. NIHSS certification annually and ESI training within the first 60 days of employment.

Knowledge & Skills –

  • Professional knowledge of nursing care principles, quality management, ethics, infection prevention practices and processes required to assess nursing needs of patients and provide education to nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of wide variety of medical disorders, normal course of diseases, potential complications and individual therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects and complications of their use.
  • Ability to recognize and react to emergency situations.
  • Knowledge and skill in operation and monitoring of general nursing equipment; e.g. infusion pumps, defibrillators, arrhythmia monitors, etc.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate a patient care plan.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Knowledge necessary to manage a fiscal budget.
  • Computer literacy and ability to become proficient on electronic medical record.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in oral and written.
Job Summary

Position serves as an integral part of Hospital management providing nurse supervision and direction as well as administrative support for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Hospital Services Division. Incumbent is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a Hospital environment. There is common exposure to contagious disease. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and emotionally disturbed patients, families and visitors. Special attire may be required as protection against infection.

Physical Demands

Long periods of standing and walking. Working with patients requires recurring bending, lifting, squatting, stretching and positioning of patients. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must manage stress under many different circumstances.

Essential Functions

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  • Maintains RN core competencies.
  • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses cultural and psycho-social needs of patients and their families.
  • Makes routine visits, minimum of one (1) per shift, ensuring patient's comfort, care, service and coordinates with patient's nurse to ensure that changes are reported to the attending physician.
  • Coordinates with unit managers to manage guidance and couseling activities for personnel of the designated shift.
  • Assists the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and DON in revision, implementation and development of policies and procedures that govern the Nursing Services, in conjunction with the Nurse Managers.
  • Coordinates and directs patient care and education by monitoring care plans and assisting staff members to improve the quality of care rendered.
  • Oversees the assessment and re-assessment of all patients and the completion and updating of Patient Care Plans within eight (8) hours of the patient's admission.
