Job Summary

The Registered NurseI assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status.

• Completed basic professional nursing curricula and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree.

• Valid multi‑state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.

• 0–6 months related experience.

• General disease state management processes, bio‑psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
• Attention to detail for examination of clinical and numerical data.

• Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
• Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
• Documents steps of the nursing process.
• Utilizes proper medical terminology.
• Addresses problems and progress toward goals.
• Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
• Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
• Supports unit/hospital goals through improvement and educational activities as evidenced by attending in‑services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.

Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives subject to general review in final stages only.

Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Defines leadership among peers. Provides input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Works directly with patients, internal and external customers, other healthcare professionals and staff, and frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
