Key Responsibilities- Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, and related machinery.
- Review and apply manufacturer’s manuals and guidelines for each piece of equipment operated.
- Complete routine daily equipment checklists and be familiar with all equipment assigned.
- Communicate effectively with forepersons and superintendents regarding daily job requirements and specifications.
- Perform daily inspections and pre‑start procedures (service intervals, fluid levels, etc.) to ensure equipment is in proper order.
- Coordinate with other crew members and operators for safe and efficient project flow.
- When possible, park equipment for easy access by the equipment mover.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness inside and out, promoting equipment longevity and a positive company image.
- Follow all instructions and adhere to safety regulations and operational procedures.
- Assist with general labor duties as required, supporting the team to complete all aspects of the job.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Capable of fulfilling all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a construction environment preferred; GPS machine control equipment operating experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, co‑workers, and the public.
- Knowledge of construction materials and equipment is strongly desired.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record; CDL may be required or willingness to obtain one.
- Successfully pass pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check, and “Fit for Work” physical.
- Provide appropriate documentation for I‑9 eligibility verification.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude and commitment to teamwork.
Ability to adhere strictly to safety policies and act responsibly in a safety‑sensitive environment. - Willingness to work extended hours and in various weather conditions as project needs demand.
- Participate in safe driver training as required.
Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
- Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25–50 lbs as needed.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
- Reasonable accommodations provided as necessary to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Hourly Wage: $22–$26 per hour, depending on experience.
