About the RoleThe Warehouse Worker II plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of the warehouse within the transportation and warehousing industry. This position is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, maintaining inventory integrity and supporting timely order fulfillment. The role requires collaboration with team members to optimize workflow and uphold safety standards in a fast‑paced environment.
The Warehouse Worker II contributes to minimizing errors and delays by adhering to established procedures and utilizing warehouse management systems. Ultimately, this position supports the overall supply chain by ensuring that materials and products are handled with care and delivered on schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts (certification preferred).
- Basic math skills and ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and work instructions.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime or weekends if required.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Organize and store materials in designated locations to maximize space and accessibility.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment accurately and efficiently.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and in compliance with company policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse to ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies to supervisors.
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed to support transportation schedules.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve warehouse processes and resolve issues.
The required skills such as operating warehouse equipment and performing physical tasks are essential for daily handling and movement of goods, ensuring efficiency and safety. Basic math and document reading skills enable accurate verification of shipments and adherence to procedures. Preferred skills like forklift certification and familiarity with warehouse management systems enhance productivity by allowing the worker to manage inventory digitally and operate machinery confidently.
