Accounting Specialist Overview
Location: United States, Ridgeville, South Carolina

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, financial, and administrative duties that support the daily operations of the Finance Department. This position maintains financial records, processes accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, reconciles accounts, assists with month-end close activities, and ensures compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounts Payable- Process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
- Match purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
- Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Maintain vendor records and W-9 documentation.
- Generate customer invoices.
- Record customer payments and deposits.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset records.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support financial reporting and analysis.
- Maintain accurate accounting files and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Maintain electronic and paper financial records.
- Respond to vendor and employee inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3 – 5 years of accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience.
- Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting software.
