The Billing Lead - Accounting / Fiscal Manager I position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Central Office in Cayce, South Carolina. This role leads revenue cycle optimization and oversees two regional billing teams across the state, managing claim submissions, analyzing rejections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and resolving complex billing disputes. The position requires strategy development and performance monitoring to maximize cash flow and reduce aging accounts while maintaining alignment with HIPAA, CMS, and private payer regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field with professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or banking
- 3-5+ years of work experience in medical billing, preferably in behavioral health or with Medicaid
- Proficiency in EHR systems, Excel, and payer portals
- Experience managing or overseeing remote teams or billing operations across multiple regions or facilities
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, CMS, and private payer regulations
- Excellent customer service and leadership skills
