Postal Courier (#016066) Evans Correctional Institution, Bennettsville (MARLBORO) Level 2

• Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail.

• Coordinates agency postal services.

• Supervises employees engaged in mail handling tasks.

• Maintain records of insured and registered mail; maintains billing records.

• Requires knowledge of policies, regulations and procedures for handling mail, knowledge of filing systems and the maintenance of office records.

• Also requires use of postal meters and scales. corresponding detailed records; reports transactions to SCDC financial accounting branch.

• Ensures inmate legal mail is received and distributed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

• Assists with coordinating postage meter maintenance and replenishment and postage meter monthly summary reports.

• Performs mailroom duties in the absence of the postal director.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier, or delivery operations.

• A high school diploma and one (1) year of work experience in postal courier, or delivery operations.
• An associate degree or higher may be substituted for the required work experience.
