Job Responsibilities: The part-time dispatcher is responsible for providing radio and telephone communications for the University Police Department and dispatching calls for assistance to the officers.
Minimum and Additional Requirements: A high school diploma and at least 2 years of strong customer service experience. Certification through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Basic Telecommunications class is preferred. NCIC training is preferred or must be completed within 30 days of hire. Must have a minimum typing speed of 30 WPM. Strong customer service skills, good ethics, and the ability to evaluate situations and make decisions are essential.
Must reside near Lander University, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a safe driving record. Excellent communication, computer skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly are required. Work involves operating a multichannel radio console and multi-line telephone system.
