OverviewSTEM/SCIENCE/PLTW Education Teacher – Middle School. This position provides students with a rigorous and relevant STEM education, with a focus on health sciences, through Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses and related software applications. The teacher is responsible for supervising and evaluating students within the teaching assignment and for facilitating career planning opportunities in STEM occupations.
Responsibilities- The Middle School STEM teacher provides a rigorous and relevant STEM education with a focus on health sciences, incorporating project-based learning and PLTW coursework.
- Teach to South Carolina PLTW Gateway Standards and to Career & Technical Education standards, including related software applications and online learning management systems.
- Use data to plan, organize, set goals, and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Help students solve real-world problems by applying the design process and encouraging problem-solving, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Facilitate career awareness and opportunities in STEM and healthcare occupations for students.
- Baccalaureate degree and current certification in a Career & Technology, Math, and/or Science discipline.
- Must be currently licensed to teach PLTW or be eligible for a South Carolina PLTW Endorsement after completion of designated PLTW courses.
- Minimum of two years of work experience in an engineering-related field preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
