Assistant Language Teacher - English Second Language; ESL

About the Role

Our client is looking for a supportive and encouraging Assistant Language Teacher to help students learning English as a Second Language (ESL) at their language school in East London . This part-time role involves assisting the lead teacher in creating an immersive and effective learning environment. You will work directly with students to reinforce language skills, practice conversational English, and build confidence.

This position is perfect for someone passionate about language acquisition and eager to support diverse learners in their journey to English proficiency.

• Assist the lead ESL teacher in planning and delivering engaging language lessons.
• Provide individual and small group support to students needing extra help with vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
• Facilitate conversational practice sessions to improve students' speaking and listening skills.
• Help create and prepare classroom materials, activities, and visual aids.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher on student performance.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable practicing English.
• Support students with cultural orientation and understanding local customs.

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in teaching or assisting in an ESL/EFL context is preferred.
• A strong command of the English language (native or near-native proficiency).
• Patience, enthusiasm, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
• Understanding of basic language acquisition principles.
• Availability for part-time work during school hours in East London .
