Transportation Engineering Technician II

This job involves working on surveying projects in Dorchester County, South Carolina. Responsibilities include establishing right of way lines, using two-way radios to communicate with crew members, assisting with rodman duties, and clearing brush with a bush axe for line of sight. The role requires performing courthouse and field research to locate property lines and corners under the supervision of a registered land surveyor, and locating relevant documents such as tax maps, deeds, and plats.

Proficiency with specialized survey equipment, including total stations, data collectors, and levels, is necessary for performing basic survey operations, establishing elevations of benchmarks, ground controls, profiles, and cross sections. The job also involves setting up and operating survey instruments, recording measurements, and establishing control, line, and grade records. This is a permanent, full-time position.
