This position is located in the Ladson DMV Branch Office in Ladson, SC.
Responsibilities- Examines, accepts, prepares, enters and prints all documents required in issuing drivers’ licenses, beginner permits, identification cards and vehicle registrations.
- Manages business customer (banks, lienholders, insurance companies, dealerships) needs such as licensing, insurance issues and/or verifying customer numbers.
- Processes motor vehicle registration requests, researches suspension inquiries, and issues automobile dealership licenses.
- Determines service eligibility from established guidelines and SC legislation.
- Administers knowledge tests to drivers requesting Class A, B, C, D, E, F, G, M and CDL licenses.
- Verifies visual eye screening, reviews applications for fraud and medical cases, and processes motor voter applications.
- Answers customer inquiries and directs them to appropriate areas in the office.
- Operates camera system, fax machine, SCDMV software and equipment to assist customers.
- Collects fees, reconciles daily reports, computes vehicle sales taxes, and maintains records of product issuance.
- Manages transaction payments via cash, credit card, check or money order and maintains documentation per policy.
- Performs related duties such as IRP/IFTA, Live Scan and International Customer transactions as requested by management.
- A high school diploma or equivalent plus clerical experience.
- Completion of a formal CDL test examiner trainer course and examination before administration of CDL knowledge skill tests.
- Nationwide criminal background check to include fingerprints before certification to administer CDL knowledge skill tests.
- Ability to retain knowledge of DMV policies and explain procedures to customers.
- Ability to pass New Employee Training and demonstrate working knowledge of the Phoenix System and related hardware.
- Capable of working under pressure during peak workload periods.
- Reports directly to the Assistant Branch Supervisor.
- Requires regular supervision with defined tasks and processes.
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled office setting, involving prolonged sitting, standing, walking and constant talking.
- Limited overtime may be required; mandatory training attendance.
