The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Medical Assistant, Certified performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.

• Accompany patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams
• Perform and document vital signs
• Assist with procedures
• Prepare and administer medications with physician’s authorization
• Perform EKGs
• Using CPR skills when required
• Draw blood
• Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
• Be responsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
• Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

• At least 1 year of related customer facing experience Required
• Healthcare experience Preferred

• Computer knowledge
• High level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
• Perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Work independently with limited supervision
• Phlebotomy skills and experience

• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Health career Association Required
• Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Required
• Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist Required
• National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing Required
• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Required
