Position: Workers' Compensation Paralegal

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Workers’ Compensation Defense Paralegal to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will support attorneys handling workers’ compensation defense matters by managing case files, drafting legal documents, communicating with clients and carriers, and ensuring deadlines are met in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of workers’ compensation defense litigation.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Prepare case summaries, medical chronologies, and exhibits for hearings, depositions, and mediations.
  • Manage attorney calendars, hearings, depositions, IMEs, and court deadlines.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date digital case files in case management software.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, claims adjusters, opposing counsel, medical providers, and the Workers’ Compensation Commission.
  • Request, obtain, and review medical records and employment documentation.
  • Track billable time in accordance with client and firm guidelines.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of SC workers’ compensation defense paralegal experience required
  • Strong understanding of workers’ compensation procedures, deadlines, and terminology.
  • Excellent drafting, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a high-volume practice.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software (e.g., Aderant, Needles, Filevine, etc.).
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant degree preferred but not required.
