Postal Courier Ridgeland Correctional Institution, Ridgeland; JASPER Level 2

Job Responsibilities

• Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail, processes outgoing mail.
• Coordinates agency postal services.
• Supervises employees engaged in mail handling tasks.
• Maintains records of insured and registered mail and billing records.
• Uses postal meters and scales as required.
• Corresponds detailed records and reports transactions to SCDC financial accounting branch.
• Ensures inmate legal mail is received and distributed in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Assists with coordinating postage meter replenishment and postage reimbursements from inmates on a monthly basis or as required.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.

SCDC

Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and one (1) year of work experience in postal, courier or delivery operations.
• An associate degree or higher may be substituted for the required work experience.
