Job Description:
Part-Time Youth Director
The Youth Director will be responsible for working with the Youth in implementing and evaluating programs of Christian Education and activities for those in grades 6-12. The pastor has day-to-day supervisory responsibility for this position.
Qualifications:- A mature person who exhibits strong Christian values, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to relate and counsel with the needs of the youth, and the ability to communicate with all levels of youth and adults.
- A person who can organize, advertise, communicate youth events and recruit volunteers.
- Demonstrate an understanding of United Methodist doctrine and practices.
- Hold a valid SC driver’s license, and be a responsible driver with good driving record for trips in the church bus.
- Successfully pass background check and comply with all Safe Sanctuary policies.
- Researches and evaluates material for youth lessons, retreats and all other youth events.
- Responsible for all retreats and special events; plans and coordinates travel with the church bus and volunteer drivers, collects money for events and prepares contingency plans if event is canceled.
- Recruits and supports adult workers in selected activities.
- Provides continuous educational resources and training for youth volunteers as ongoing process to develop and enhance our ability to relate to the needs of our youth.
- Awareness of community events that our youth can become involved in.
- Attends staff meetings, church council meetings and regularly attends worship.
- Assists the youth in participating in District and Conference events.
- Develops and leads a Bible Study program for the youth.
- Coordinates Sunday School for the youth.
- Updates and maintains the youth page on the church website.
- Submits and monitors annual budget for the Youth Ministry.
- Average 12-15 hours per week.
- Salary range: $12,000-$14,000 per year.
