Job Description Summary
The Hospital Medicine Department at MUSC Health – Catawba is seeking skilled Acute Care trained Advanced Practice Providers to provide adult inpatient care.

Work Shift: 7 on 7 off schedule, 5:00 am–5:00 pm
Inpatient, 18 years to death.
Required Minimum Training- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility as a Physician Assistant in South Carolina.
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, OR
- Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program with prior hospital medicine and/or ICU experience; licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner and eligibility as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner will be considered.
At least six months of hospital medicine experience preferred.
Preferred Training and ExperienceOne year as a Physician Assistant or FNP/AGACNP in hospital medicine preferred; ICU experience a plus but not required.
Degree of SupervisionProviders will be assigned a primary supervising/collaborating physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to that physician.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations- Licensed (or eligible) in South Carolina as a Physician Assistant or as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required; must be current at start date.
- DHEC and DEA license.
- Take comprehensive history and perform physical examinations.
- Work with nocturnists on admissions and cross‑coverage.
- Evaluate and treat patients based on history, physical, radiologic, laboratory, and other diagnostic findings in accordance with practice agreements or scope of practice guidelines.
- Initiate referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult with the attending or collaborating physician.
- Document and bill for direct care provided.
- Utilize current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
- Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
- Support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities.
- Demonstrate responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Potential to precept students and facilitate learning of new team members.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, and continuing education as required by policies and state law.
Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods; ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions; use both hands and legs; good finger dexterity; perform repetitive motions; lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lb; maintain 20/40 vision; work in a latex‑safe environment; handle dusty or confined spaces as needed.
