• Ensures safe and adequate patient care during assigned shift with documentation that is accurate, legible, dated and timed.
• Adjusts N/P ratios by altering assignments based on patient need; prioritizes needs to achieve the best utilization of resources.
• Communicates hospital activities, emergency situations, patient/ staff/ physician needs of an unusual nature to the AOC.
• Documents hospital deaths, ensures timely notification of next of kin/Sharing Hope SC/selected funeral home, and serves as liaison with the county coroner, law enforcement concerning deaths, autopsies and transfer of deceased.
• Ensures privacy and confidentiality of patient, employee, and hospital information.
• Demonstrates appropriate handling and storage of medications; investigates narcotic discrepancies occurring during shift.
• Coordinates intra/interdepartmental functions as indicated/licensure/competency allows.
• Promptly places work order(s) for environmental/equipment repair or maintenance needs.
• Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful conditions.
• Establishes relationships with ED and admitting medical staff to optimize patient care and staff relationships.
• Takes ownership of customer needs; utilizes GET-IT (Greet, Explain, Task, Instruct, Thank) when communicating with patients, physicians and staff; utilizes the GIFT (Give sincere apology, Identify with complaint, Fix and follow‑up, Thank) method when responding to customer concerns.

Five years acute care clinical experience with at least one year in a charge nurse or preceptor role.
