Quality Control Manager – Hampton Lumber

Hampton Lumber is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead all quality systems at our new, state-of-the-art sawmill in Allendale, SC. This role will build the mill’s quality program from the ground up, ensuring products meet grading standards, customer expectations, and company performance goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the mill’s quality control systems, SOPs, and inspection processes
- Lead grading agency certification and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Train supervisors and production teams on quality standards and procedures
- Monitor grade recovery, moisture control, and product performance
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects or customer concerns
- Support mill startup, equipment calibration, and process optimization
- Track quality KPIs and report performance to leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Wood Science, Forestry, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of lumber quality experience (2+ years in leadership)
- Certified Lumber Grader (SPIB or equivalent) or ability to obtain
- Startup experience in sawmill operations preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
