Position Overview

South Seas Resort (Captiva Island) is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to lead the Provisions & Spirits retail division. The role focuses on maximizing sales, operational efficiency, and guest service across multiple retail outlets.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop the retail team across multiple locations.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and evaluate team members.
  • Create employee schedules that optimize labor costs while meeting business demands.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Oversee daily operations of Provisions & Spirits: stocking, cleanliness, merchandising, promotional displays, and sales strategy.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships for both retail and food items.
  • Monitor food safety and freshness; implement FIFO and maintain compliance with health regulations.
  • Analyze sales, labor, and inventory reports; adjust purchasing and merchandising strategies accordingly.
  • Develop attractive displays and maintain brand standards throughout the outlets.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and improve the overall shopping and dining experience.
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years of progressive retail management experience, preferably with multiple locations.
  • Experience in food retail, grocery, convenience, or resort retail environments.
  • Proficiency with POS systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as business demands require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Resort, hotel, or hospitality retail experience.
  • Experience managing grab‑and‑go or deli operations.
  • Food Manager Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Retail inventory forecasting and vendor management experience.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend, reach, climb ladders, and stock merchandise; work in refrigerated storage areas and operate retail equipment and POS systems; perform duties in both indoor and outdoor retail environments.
