Job Summary:The Retail Department Supervisor assists the management team in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-merchandised Gift Shop while delivering excellent customer service. This role provides on-shift leadership, ensures merchandising and operational standards are met, and supports the training and supervision of Gift Shop personnel.
Essential Functions:- Maintain proper customer service standards as set by the Retail Manager.
- Ensure floor merchandising standards are consistently met; all displays and fixtures must remain fully stocked and shoppable throughout the shift.
- Direct and motivate all personnel working during the shift to actively contribute to customer service and merchandising goals.
- Maintain a positive work attitude and assist in other areas as needed.
- Encourage the same professional attitude and teamwork from all Gift Shop personnel.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.
- Assist in training all Gift Shop personnel, including seasonal staff, in basic knowledge of the attraction to effectively assist guests.
- Assist in training Gift Shop personnel on the POS system and ensure sales transactions are handled accurately, efficiently, and courteously.
- Ensure all Gift Shop personnel report to work on time and are prepared for their shifts.
- When acting as the opening supervisor, create a daily written schedule outlining employee duties and follow up to ensure completion.
- Lead by example to maintain a positive, respectful, and fair work environment.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards as set by the Retail Manager.
- Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned by management in a timely manner.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Prior experience working with POS systems
- Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures
- Ability to use computer programs and mobile applications necessary for daily operational tasks (such as scheduling, inventory management, communication, and reporting)
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
- Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift as required without restriction
