Fleet Technician

Position Description

• Independently maintains Santee Cooper vehicles & equipment by performing repairs and preventative maintenance as required. Initiates and ensures that safety & environmental practices and procedures are followed on all job tasks. Must be available for 24 hour on‑call status.

• Ability to independently evaluate, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild or replace (light & heavy) vehicle & equipment systems and components using manufacturer’s procedures, diagnostic equipment, experience and job knowledge. Systems include but are not limited to hydraulic, pneumatic, fiber optic, electrical and system communication modules, air condition, fuel and ignition, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), diesel after‑treatment, and drive line components. May be required to perform the above duties off‑site utilizing a field service truck.
• Performs other duties as required such as preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, wrecker calls, change & repair tires, general housekeeping and fabricating & modifying vehicle & equipment structures through the use of welding & cutting equipment.
• Completes all job related paperwork, orders parts, creates and completes work orders, prepares new fleets and equipment for use, and enters all pertinent vehicle maintenance data into an automotive‑based computer system using asset management software.

• Fleet Technician A – High School Diploma/GED +6 years experience required.
• Fleet Technician B – High School Diploma/GED +4 years experience required.
• Fleet Technician C – High School Diploma/GED +1 year experience required.
• Class A CDL required for all levels; for Fleet Technician C, CDL must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire.
• 24 hour on‑call status required for all levels.

• Fleet Technician A: $30.05 – $37.55 (min. – mid.)
• Fleet Technician B: $24.35 – $30.40 (min. – mid.)
• Fleet Technician C: $19.85 – $24.80 (min. – mid.)
