SUMMARY
This is an administrative position responsible for assisting the Development Office in daily operations by performing administrative support duties combined with entry-level development work. Responsible for assisting with coordination of special events and research on prospective donors and performing a wide variety of administrative activities. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Associate Vice President of University Advancement.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college coursework in accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.
Five years of related experience is required. Experience in development/fundraising or a directly related field is required. Experience in general office practices and procedures is required. Experience in the use of computer applications is required. Candidates who do not meet the experience requirement but have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field may also be considered on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides administrative support to the Development Office by assisting staff in daily duties and responsibilities.Serves as first point of contact for the department by answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing individuals to the appropriate staff member.Interprets policies and explains procedures relating to departmental activities.Maintains and updates departmental policies and procedures.Receives and distributes departmental mail.Handles routine and confidential correspondence.Monitors departmental website regularly to identify any necessary updates regarding fundraising projects, initiatives, and campaigns as well as all other development-related activities and operations. Initiates change with approval of the associate vice president.Maintains departmental records and files.Assists with scheduling appointments for the associate vice president and development officers.Assists with coordinating travel plans for the associate vice president and development officers, to include generating expense reports and travel reimbursement for departmental staff.Assists with planning and coordinating special events.Assists in researching prospective donors, to include compiling data and submitting summary reports to the associate vice president and development officers.Assists in compiling various regular, special, and ad hoc reports.Maintains a professional and courteous demeanor while representing the department and university.NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists with special projects as assigned.Works outside normal office hours and on weekends as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
