Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician obtains patient specimens and performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces, and reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures. The technician also performs supervisory and operational duties when requested by the laboratory manager and carries out any other tasks necessary to maintain proper functioning of the department and the hospital.
Qualifications- Education: Minimum education is a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent education/clinical work experience.
- Experience: Minimum experience includes previous work as a medical technologist/technician. Clinical rotation experience will be considered for students who have pending graduation dates.
- Certifications: Required certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT, or a certification accepted by the State Department of Health as an MT/MLT.
