Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy / Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead pharmacy operations within a hospital-based, acute care environment. This role is responsible for overseeing all pharmacy services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with clinical teams to support safe, high-quality patient care.
The ideal candidate brings proven hospital pharmacy leadership experience, a strong understanding of sterile compounding practices, and the ability to balance operational oversight with clinical collaboration.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily operations of the pharmacy, including medication procurement, storage, preparation, dispensing, and distribution across the hospital and supported departments. Ensure all medications are reviewed and verified for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage pharmaceutical purchasing and inventory levels based on par requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and clinical teams to support optimal patient care
- Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy staff, including performance management and workflow oversight
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Texas State Board of Pharmacy and USP and guidelines
- Support medication distribution to offsite departments, including Emergency and Imaging services
Candidates must have at least one year of pharmacy leadership experience within a hospital or acute care setting, with prior experience in roles such as Lead Pharmacist, Supervisor, Pharmacy Manager, or Pharmacist-in-Charge strongly preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharmacy) required
- Active Texas State Board of Pharmacy license required, or ability to obtain quickly if out-of-state
- Aseptic Technique Certification required within one year of employment
- Experience with IV compounding, sterile products, and clean room protocols strongly preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to collaborate across clinical teams, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Work Environment & ExpectationsThis is a fully onsite position based in a hospital setting in Nacogdoches, Texas. The role requires consistent on-site presence and oversight of both onsite and offsite pharmacy services.
