Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Performs materials management duties by preparing, compiling, and maintaining records in the surgery department related to supplies. Records items ordered, used, and stocked within the surgical department. Answers phone, transmits orders to Central Supply, communicates stock levels to staff.
Is responsible for departmental inventory and reordering process of supplies. Maintains PAR level of supplies in the department by communicating items to appropriate personnel. Relieves surgery secretary.
Patient care employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups. They must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age and provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Minimum Education:
ORT with 1‑year OJT as an operating room tech or LVN licensure - Minimum Experience:
1‑year medical surgical experience - Required Certification: BLS (must be completed by 3 months of employment)
