We are Optimum, a leader in connectivity, seeking driven professionals to join our team. This role focuses on maintaining fiber and coaxial cable services for residential and business customers.
Job SummaryUnder general supervision, Maintenance Tech III repairs and maintains the fiber and coaxial transport and distribution cable services, including residential and business video, data, telephone, and security. Supports headend electronics and critical infrastructure, troubleshoots end‑to‑end service, mentors lower‑level technicians, and performs service and installation as needed.
Responsibilities- Conduct demand maintenance and preventive maintenance on transport, trunk, and distribution networks from the Master Telecommunication Center to customer devices.
- Maintain a unity gain network and perform FCC‑required network tests.
- Perform all duties of Maintenance Tech I and II as necessary.
- Troubleshoot and repair the distribution network from headend to customer devices.
- Maintain network integrity through preventive maintenance.
- Build, troubleshoot, and repair all aspects of FTTH & RFOG networks.
- Resolve installation issues from customer devices to tap.
- Collaborate with Design, Construction, ISP, NOC/ROC to resolve escalated issues and identify improvement areas.
- Coordinate and oversee training initiatives, ensuring continuous skill development.
- Coach and develop team members to enhance technical and customer‑service skills.
- Assist in creating and implementing training materials and best practices.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Other tasks as needed to support infrastructure and team.
- Internal applicants must complete their Career Progression program to be eligible.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing; meet DOT qualification standards.
- Must obtain DOT medical card and valid CDL where applicable.
- Qualified for necessary state licenses for installing/servicing security services (if applicable).
- Proficient with testing equipment (signal level meters, ohm meters).
- BDS & BTS certification preferred.
- Fiber repair and troubleshooting experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of FTTH & RFOG architecture, including Rolt, Back‑haul, and distribution.
- Ability to use soft tools (AGORA, Netwin, Net‑Q).
- Experience with ISP or "Hot Hands" for ISP.
- Experience and/or knowledge of OSP construction tasks.
- Must pass a physical assessment of the physical demands required for the job.
