The FTTH Underground Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all underground fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) construction activities. This role ensures safe, timely, and high-quality execution of boring (missile/drill), duct laying, cable pulling, splicing, and restoration works in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise day-to-day underground FTTH construction activities (boring, trenching, HDD, micro-trenching, duct installation, and fiber pulling).
- Manage field crews, subcontractors, and equipment to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Interpret construction drawings, route plans, and ensure work is executed accordingly.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, local authorities, and utility owners for site access, permits, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environment policies, conduct toolbox talks, and enforce safe work practices on site.
- Monitor work progress, prepare daily reports, and update project schedules.
- Verify material usage, manage site inventory, and report shortages or damages.
- Identify and resolve on-site issues related to utilities conflicts, ground conditions, or design changes.
- Ensure proper reinstatement and restoration of roads, footpaths, and other surfaces after excavation.
- Conduct quality inspections and support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–7 years of experience in FTTH or telecom underground construction.
- Strong knowledge of underground fiber networks, duct systems, chambers, and manholes.
- Familiarity with HDD, trenching methods, and fiber cable installation standards.
- Experience supervising field teams and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Good problem-solving and decision‑making abilities
- Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment standards and local authority requirements
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, reporting tools)
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Outdoor field‑based role with exposure to construction environments
- May require extended hours or weekend work based on project needs
