Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), a Christian nonprofit organization founded in 1945, is seeking people who share our desire to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ. ABrief Overview
The Dept Manager, Waypoints leads MAF's efforts in cultivating cross-cultural disciple-makers, provides strategic oversight to a dedicated team, and ensures they effectively equip future staff for service. This role empowers and guides staff as they mentor new missionary candidates, designs and delivers preparation workshops, and executes two field-based internships annually, serving as an essential part of the work of MAF so that the Gospel is proclaimed and God's Kingdom is extended.
This position requires an active commitment to the mission, values, and doctrinal stance of MAF. In the course of performing job duties, the employee will act in a manner that is Christ-honoring as well as Christ-like, demonstrating a personal Christian faith and witness in all interpersonal interactions.
- Acts as a facilitator - vision trips, internships - (pre-field, HQ, international)
- Journeys with mentees in experiences of growth (4 Spheres)
- Hosts workshops and missions related experiences
- Participates in group events as partner with Mobilization
- Prays regularly for and with mentees
20% Waypoints Team
- Meets regularly with the Director of Candidate Development
- Develops and trains mentors
- Collaborates with mentors to ensure potential MAF staff are being prepared spiritually to serve well
- Helps facilitate and engages in formative community among Waypoints Team
- Periodically travels to preparation schools and field for in-person meetings and team support
30% Waypoints Systems and Structures
- Researches and develops content and practices that will assist Waypoints
- Stays engaged and collaborates with discipleship and mentoring practices in other mission organizations and ministries
- Monitors activity on CRM relating to mentees
- Manages Waypoints budget
- Plays an active role in the monitoring and evaluation of Waypoints
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with Biblical training required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of experience in a related field is required
- 1 year of experience in mentoring or being mentored is required
- 1 year of MAF or similar field experience is required
