SUMMARY

Provides secondary law enforcement students with the fullest educational opportunity to learn and progress through use of appropriate teaching strategies and materials which includes classroom and laboratory teaching, course planning and improvement, continuous program review, ensuring effective utilization of resources including supplies, and supervision of students during labs.

The Nampa School District is seeking an extraordinary school leader for our Law Enforcement Teacher positions who is committed to every child’s success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create a dynamic environment that allows students to explore the areas of Law Enforcement which includes different types of careers, law, communication, defensive tactics, and corrections.
  • Work closely with school staff and the Nampa Police Department in the continued development of the Law Enforcement Career Pathway.
  • Work to develop and nurture partnerships with local colleges, local business and industry to create meaningful instructional experiences and ensure competitive law enforcement graduates.
  • Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty that provide content in a logical and sequential manner using class time effectively for all assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs.
  • Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction and improving student learning.
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional learning communities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally.
  • Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and attend IEP meetings and collaborate with special education teachers as needed.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
  • Implement the Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments.
  • Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts, and use them to evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
  • Advise a career-technical student organization (SkillsUSA) for the development of industry recognized technical skills and incorporate SkillsUSA competitions and leadership activities into the Law Enforcement curriculum.
  • Prepare students academically for district and state testing.
  • Communicate and collaborate with students, parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the instructional program.
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Attend faculty meetings and conferences as directed by the Building Principal and participation in in‑services activities and other professional growth opportunities.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise.
  • Provide needed and requested information on a timely basis and input data in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and know and follow school district policy and chain of command.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
