Description

The Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator ("VR Coordinator") is assigned to Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) and is responsible for delivering and coordinating services to students and participants with disabilities. The position involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including management personnel, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, other VR Coordinators, and Technical Records Specialists. The coordinator also serves as a liaison with educational institutions, employers, public agencies, community partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate student/participant access to pre-employment transition services.

The Pre‑ETS role emphasizes hands‑on instruction, workshops, and facilitation of work‑based learning experiences to develop skill and prepare students for employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group vocational and career services tailored to students’ strengths and goals, including workshops and activities that develop workplace skills.
  • Coordinate a caseload of students/participants and ensure timely delivery of services aligned with each Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) or Pre‑ETS goals.
  • Organize and conduct workplace readiness training sessions on resume writing, interview skills, job searching, teamwork, and professional communication.
  • Coach students/participants on self‑advocacy skills, empowering them to understand their rights and effectively communicate their needs in educational and workplace settings.
  • Support students/participants in exploring educational pathways, providing guidance on enrollment, financial aid, and other resources to facilitate post‑secondary success.
  • Collaborate with school personnel, employers, and community organizations to ensure students/participants receive necessary supports and accommodations, and participate in IEP meetings to provide relevant updates.
  • Assist students/participants in identifying career interests, exploring job options, and setting realistic goals aligned with labor‑market demands.
  • Facilitate hands‑on learning opportunities such as internships, job shadowing, and mentoring, and collaborate with community partners to create and support these experiences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress, adjusting support in collaboration with the service team as needed, and act as the primary contact for students/participants and families.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and documentation standards, preparing and submitting reports to supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Connect students/participants and families with community resources, advocate for access to supports, and provide follow‑up support after placement.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best‑practice, labor‑market trends, and available resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Some knowledge of:

  • Software tools such as Microsoft Office and other applications for information tracking, reporting, and task management
  • Willingness to travel, possibly including overnight stays

Typical qualifications are obtained by one or more of the following:

  • At least two years’ work experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, case management, or working with students with disabilities in an educational or community setting, including experience with caseload tracking and coordinating services and resources for individuals with disabilities.
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
  • An Associate degree with one year of work experience as described above.
