The College of Western Idaho is seeking an enthusiastic Adjunct Instructor, Anatomy & Physiology
, to provide engaging, hands-on laboratory instruction that prepare students for careers in healthcare and the sciences. In this part-time role, you'll teach Anatomy & Physiology lab courses during fall, spring, and summer terms, helping students build foundational scientific knowledge and practical laboratory skills.

Position Summary:

The College of Western Idaho’s Department of Biological Sciences invites an engaging and forward-thinking adjunct faculty ready to enrich the lives of a diverse student body by cultivating their academic potential and engaging their commitment to civic responsibility in a dynamic and challenging world. The department is seeking adjunct faculty to teach lab courses in Anatomy & Physiology during our Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. To reach a broad range of students, CWI encourages exploring alternative teaching styles and methods. Courses will be taught in traditional classroom settings, in computer-mediated classrooms, and over the internet.

Responsibilities:

Deliver Engaging Laboratory Instruction
  • Teach Anatomy & Physiology laboratory courses using effective instructional strategies that promote student learning and scientific inquiry.
  • Prepare and facilitate laboratory activities that reinforce course concepts while emphasizing safe laboratory practices.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and a variety of teaching methods to support student engagement across multiple learning environments.
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and well-prepared classroom and laboratory environment.
Support Student Learning and Academic Success
  • Assess student performance using established learning outcomes and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate academic records, and communicate with students regarding course expectations and performance.
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and the practical application of scientific principles.
Maintain Instructional Excellence and Program Quality
  • Follow departmental curriculum, laboratory procedures, and instructional standards to ensure consistency across course sections.
  • Participate in instructional evaluations and apply feedback to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Complete required training and remain current in the discipline and instructional best practices.
Contribute to Department and College Success
  • Collaborate with department faculty and staff to support program goals and student success.
  • Adhere to college policies, procedures, and scheduling expectations, including evening and weekend instructional assignments as needed.
  • Represent the college professionally while fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field of study, with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in the discipline
  • Experience teaching secondary-level students in the field of study
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching methodologies including lectures, group activities, individual instruction, distance learning, and teaching with technology.
  • Proficiency in usage of internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications.
  • Experience using instructional technology to aid in course delivery
  • MS/MA in Biology or related field, from a regionally accredited institution, preferred
  • Three years’ experience teaching field of study at the post‑secondary level, preferred
  • Experience using instructional technology preferred
