Summary

Oregon Trail Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Elementary Resource Teacher. In this full-time position, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs by providing individualized instruction and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and special education staff to create tailored educational experiences that promote academic success and personal growth for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and within the general education classroom.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies based on students’ unique learning profiles.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods and interventions as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress, share insights, and develop coordinated approaches to instruction and support.
  • Create and maintain a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and fosters a love of learning.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate for students’ needs within the school community and work collaboratively with other educators and support staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in the state of Oregon, with endorsement in Special Education.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly those with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment for all students.
