Position Overview

Special Education Teacher

Location:

Nampa Campus

Hours:

Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm with 1 hour of uninterrupted lunch
Salary Range:
Pay: $53,252-$66,126 (Annually)

Our Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Provide instruction to students with special needs and identified learning disabilities in a Special Education program
  • Tutor individual and small groups of students, reinforcing language and reading concepts
  • Administer and score individual and group tests
  • Schedule IEP meetings, coordinating schedules with , general education teacher(s), administrator, and all appropriate special education staff
  • Conduct IEP meetings
  • Communicate and coordinate special needs evaluation and testing with speech teachers, psychologists, and other service providers.
  • Communicate with parents regarding individual student progress and conduct
  • Maintain progress records and record progress toward IEP goals
  • Record progress within the independent study program
  • Perform other duties in support of the Special Education program
  • Support other academic programs offered within the independent study program
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Ability to teach students of grades 6-12
  • Ability to work with student of all ages
  • Ability to understand, adopt, and support the independent study program, concepts and their philosophies
  • Ability to organize and present ideas effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Ability to make skillful decisions
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a PC computer, word processor, copier, FAX, and other office machines.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum BA degree
  • Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate - Exceptional Child Education (K-12)

Pay: $53,252-$66,126 (Annually)

Additional Information About Programs

PIE is a non‑profit organization that partners with public schools to provide dropout recovery and prevention programs, including schools (located in LA, TN, IL, AZ and ); college tours; and experiential programs that help students learn teamwork, resiliency, leadership, self‑confidence, and communication.

Pathways’ schools utilize a blended learning model, combining independent study and small group instruction, focusing on academic recovery, experiential learning, and life and job skills development.

With a focus on one‑on‑one mentorship, PIE teachers and advisors are able to show struggling students the potential that they have not been able to see in themselves.

PIE’s experiential programs promote not only social and personal growth, but community involvement, environmentalism, and STEAM learning, and are proven to increase high school graduation rates among attendees.
