Accounts Receivable/ Collections, Financial Analyst
Idaho Materials & Construction, a CRH company, is seeking an experienced Assistant Credit Manager to support the administration and oversight of credit, collections, and accounts receivable activities across heavy civil construction, aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix, and related construction materials operations. This position partners with operations, sales, accounting, project management, customers, and leadership teams to manage customer credit risk, optimize cash flow, reduce bad debt exposure, and support profitable business growth.
The Assistant Credit Manager plays a key role in supporting working capital objectives, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) performance, collections effectiveness, dispute resolution, and construction lien and bond rights management.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Credit & Risk Management
- Assist in the daily administration of credit and collections activities for assigned customer portfolios and business units.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness through financial statement analysis, credit reports, payment history, and industry research.
- Review, recommend, and monitor customer credit limits and payment terms.
- Analyze customer risk exposure and make recommendations to management regarding credit decisions.
- Monitor high-risk accounts and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Collections & Accounts Receivable
- Support collection efforts to reduce delinquent accounts and improve cash flow performance.
- Review aging reports and prioritize collection activities.
- Conduct account reviews and proactively communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances.
- Assist with account reconciliations, cash applications, and customer account maintenance.
- Participate in monthly reviews of bad debt reserves, write-offs, and collection performance.
Construction Credit Administration
- Assist with the preparation, filing, and enforcement of mechanics' liens, bond claims, preliminary notices, and other construction-related credit protections.
- Partner with legal counsel, project managers, and operations teams regarding disputes, claims, bankruptcies, and collection matters.
- Review payment issues and resolve billing disputes with customers and internal stakeholders.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare and analyze credit reports, collection metrics, DSO reports, aging summaries, and management dashboards.
- Help ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures.
- Support development and implementation of best practices and process improvements.
- Provide guidance and support to credit and collections team members.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or financial analysis.
- Experience in construction, aggregates, ready-mix, asphalt, or related industries preferred.
- Experience with construction liens, bond claims, project billing, and collections processes strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong financial statement and credit analysis skills.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable, collections, risk management, and cash flow principles.
- Understanding of construction contracts, lien rights, and surety bond protections.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
